Am rechten Ufer des Tibers erhebt sich die knapp 2000 Jahre alte Engelsburg in Rom.
Die Engelsburg wurde ursprünglich als Grabmal des römischen Kaisers Hadrian im Jahr 139 n. Chr. errichtet. Das Mausoleum wurde schließlich in eine militärische Festung umgewandelt. Seitdem diente es als päpstliche Residenz, als Gefängnis während der Renaissance und heute als eines der Museen Roms.
