I read Ken Follet's novel The Pillars of the Earth with great enthusiasm. Since then, I have been fascinated by church vaults. The cloister of Trier Cathedral offers a particularly beautiful vault, here combined with the magnificent old plane trees on the Neckar Island in Tübingen, which also form a vault.
