Taking a shortcut through the forest at night seemed like a good idea at first.
As a city dweller, however, you underestimate how dark a forest can be. I lost the path so quickly, and eventually my orientation, that I sat down on the ground in frustration. Only briefly did the moon break through the night clouds - just to show me how hopelessly lost I was.
That way!, I heard a rough but clearly feminine voice. I saw nothing. Light on!, said the voice and promptly the moonlight broke through. That way, said the tree creature, and stop trampling through my living room! A luminous trail was now visible on the ground, which I followed and which finally brought me safely out of the forest.
I think I'd rather not tell anyone that story.
